Privacy Policy
Specialty Coffee Map is a small independent project. This page explains, in plain terms, exactly what data it handles and why.
What we collect
We collect only what the map actually needs to work. There is no newsletter, no advertising profile and no data broker behind this site.
We receive information when you:
- sign in with Telegram
- add a coffee shop to the map or claim one as its owner
- send a suggestion or a message through a form on the site
- simply browse the site
The data involved is:
- Telegram account data: the account id, first and last name, username and interface language that Telegram passes to us when you sign in.
- Map preferences: the last position and zoom level of the map, so it opens where you left it.
- What you submit: coffee shop details and photos you add, and the contact details you choose to give us in a form — a name plus an email address or a messenger username.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type and the pages you open, collected by the analytics service named below.
We never ask for a password or a phone number. Signing in happens entirely through Telegram, so no password ever reaches us. We do not process payment data and we run no payments through this site.
How we use it
Your data is used to:
- keep you signed in and let you manage the coffee shops you added or claimed
- open the map where you left it
- review, publish and correct coffee shop listings
- reply to the messages and suggestions you send us
- understand in aggregate which pages people use
- keep the site secure and working
Legal basis: we process your data on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by writing to us at the address at the bottom of this page.
Analytics and cookies
This site, specialtycoffeemap.com, uses Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and PostHog (EU hosting) to count visits and see which pages are useful. These services set their own cookies and receive your IP address, browser type and the pages you open.
Our Russian-language site, specialtycoffeemap.ru, deliberately loads none of these. It uses Yandex Metrica, including its session recording, instead — its own privacy policy covers that.
Beyond analytics, the site stores your sign-in data and your theme choice in your browser's local storage. Details are in the Cookie Policy.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you
- correct anything inaccurate
- delete your account and the data tied to it
- stop processing your data, by withdrawing your consent
Write to info@specialtycoffeemap.com and we will answer within 30 days. Signing out removes the Telegram data stored in your browser immediately.
You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings at any time; the map will keep working.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site changes. When we do, we update the date at the top of this page.
Significant changes will also be announced on the site. We suggest re-reading this page occasionally.
